the mother of good taste, the aroma of good life
Collaboration with Mel Carter exhibited at the 2018 Corridor Festival presented by Elevator.
Mel Carter and Anisa Jackson use craft and food to investigate diasporic histories, movement, and migration. ‘the mother of good taste, the aroma of life’ explores food histories through familiarly and politically triggered affect. Each piece of fabric is colored using slow processes of hand-dyeing with various natural food ingredients including, turmeric, paprika, matcha powder, masala chai, and others.
Materials: lemons, oranges, ginger, sesame oil, chili oil, cinnamon, star anise, water, turmeric, clove, black pepper, paprika, curry powder, cinnamon, cotton, mesh, essential oils, tea, assorted vessels.
